Ohio governor Ted Strickland visited the Islamic center of Greater Toledo on the evening of Aug.14th, 2009 to see preparations for the annual international festival, held for two days afterwards on the center grounds. His first time in a Masjid, he was very interested in the prayer hall and cultural exhibits. He then enjoyed mango ice cream. This was his first visit to a Masjid and the first visit of a State Governor to the Islamic Center, the highest government dignitary ever to visit us. On hand to receive him were some members of the Board Elders and Council, as well as many volunteers of the festival committee. He spent over an hour touring the center and took keen interest at the Cultural Exhibit and prayer hall and asked questions.
