Political Education
The United Muslim Association of Toledo has held countless events throughout the Northwest Ohio area in order to educate Muslim about politics. The United Muslim Association of Toledo has held countless events throughout the Northwest Ohio area in order to educate Muslim about politics. It is our belief that the more Muslims know about politics, the more they will feel comfortable becoming involved. For a long time Muslims have been a very silent majority. In fact, most estimates have Muslims at around 7-10 million nationwide. Finally Muslims are now getting involved. We continually have voter registration drives, 'meet the candidates' type events, and all sorts of rallies and programs to entice people to flex their political muscle.

Unity Dinners
The United Muslim Association of Toledo has held countless events throughout the Northwest Ohio area in order to educate Muslim about politics. One of our first unity dinners was held in October of 1996 at Northview High School in the midst of a heated presidential election between incumbent President Bill
Clinton and Republican challenger Robert Dole. This contest between a Bill and a Bob was not much of a contest at all and Bill ended up victorious. During our 'Meet the Candidates' night the president of American Muslim Alliance, Dr. Agha Saeed, addressed the crowd and riled everyone up
.

Governor makes visit to ICGT

Ohio governor Ted Strickland visited the Islamic center of Greater Toledo on the evening of Aug.14th, 2009 to see preparations for the annual international festival, held for two days afterwards on the center grounds. His first time in a Masjid, he was very interested in the prayer hall and cultural exhibits. He then enjoyed mango ice cream.
This was his first visit to a Masjid and the first visit of a State Governor to the Islamic Center, the highest government dignitary ever to visit us. On hand to receive him were some members of the Board Elders and Council, as well as many volunteers of the festival committee. He spent over an hour touring the center and took keen interest at the Cultural Exhibit and prayer hall and asked questions.

INSIDE ISLAM
UMAT [United Muslim association of Toledo] is proud to sponsor this very special event. A showing of Inside Islam A new documentary film from Unity Productions Foundation, explores the expertly gathered opinions of Muslims around the globe as revealed in the world’s first major opinion poll, conducted by Gallup, the preeminent polling organization. Gallup researchers began by asking the questions on every American’s mind. Why is there so much anti-Americanism in the Muslim world? Who are the extremists and how do Muslims feel about them? What do Muslims like and dislike about the West? What do Muslim women really want? Crucial policy decisions hang on these questions. They continue to generate passionate disagreements in the public square.
